1ZZFE 



A 1ZZ-FE

The Toyota 1ZZ-FE is a 1.8L aluminum inline-4 engine commonly found in 8th and 9th generation Toyota Corollas. From the factory, the 1ZZ-FE produces up to 145 horsepower at 127lbs of tq

It is well known for its lightweight design, reliability, and wide aftermarket support.

While the 1ZZ-FE was not originally designed for forced induction, many enthusiasts have successfully turbocharged this engine with proper tuning and supporting modifications. On stock internals, the 1ZZ-FE can safely handle around 170–190 horsepower, while built engines can exceed 250+ horsepower.

A 1ZZ-FE Short Block

The 1ZZ-FE had a TRD or GM Supercharger Kit option for the 2003-2004 9th Gen Corollas, 1st Gen Pontiac Vibe, and Matrix. Power can be made anywhere from 160-170hp with up to 145+lbs of torque. Other electronics and engine mods can increase power from 166-200PS.

A customed Rotrex, Eaton, or SC14 supercharger kit can be used to produce more power. At this point, people usually rebuild their engines for more power and reliability.

The 1ZZ-FE supercharger is a complete blot-on. The supercharger can also be refitted or made to run on any 03+ 1ZZ-FE vvti. This supercharger can also be refitted with the 1ZZ-FED engine as well. The 1ZZ-FED engine can be found in the MR2 Spyder and Celica Gt. Many swapped oldschool Toyota Corollas such as the 8th Gen Corolla, would need a custom hood.

4A-GZE

The Toyota 4A-GZE is a 1.6L supercharged inline-4 engine based on the legendary 4A engine family. From the factory, the 4A-GZE produces up to 170 horsepower at 152 lbs of tq.

Many builders convert the 4A-GZE into a turbocharged setup for even greater performance potential.

With its factory forged internals and strong block design, the 4A-GZE can handle 300+ horsepower with proper tuning. Turbo conversions are popular due to the engine’s durability and compatibility with many 4A-series components.

A 4E-FTE Motor

The Toyota 4E-FTE is a 1.3L turbocharged inline-4 engine from Toyota’s Starlet GT and Glanza V. It is a factory turbo engine designed specifically for performance and efficiency.

From the factory, the 4E-FTE produces around 133 horsepower with 116lbs of tq.  With tuning and bolt-on upgrades it can easily reach 170–200 horsepower. Built engines have been known to exceed 250 horsepower.

The 4E-FTE features a strong iron block, forged internals in some versions, and excellent aftermarket support, making it one of the best lightweight turbo swap options for a Toyota Corolla.

This engine is perfect for lightweight Corolla builds focused on power-to-weight ratio and responsive turbo performance.

The aftermarket is large for the 4E-FTE. Many quality parts as well as blocks can be found via internet. 


4A-GE 16V

A 4A-GE Engine Bay

The Toyota 4A-GE is one of Toyota’s most iconic performance engines. Originally naturally aspirated, it is widely turbocharged for high-revving performance builds. From the factory, the 4A-GE produces up to 130 horsepower with 105lbs of tq.

Turbocharged 4A-GE engines can produce 250–350 horsepower depending on build quality and tuning.

This engine remains one of the most respected choices for classic Toyota performance enthusiasts.

You can always buy a spare 4A-GZE bottom end for an awesome 300PS turbo build with a 4A-GE 16v head. The 4A-GE cylinder head can be found in the 5th/6th gen Toyota Corolla. The 4A-GE was a DOHC oversquared 1.6(1,587) aluminum/iron block piston motor. The motor came from Toyota’s very own A power train. The 4A-GE was was a 4 valve per cylinder design, with the goal to improve performance and fuel efficiency. The engine was produced from 1983-1998. The bore of this engine was 81mm with a stroke of 77mm. The 4A-GE had an output of 112-130hp with torque between 97-110ft•lbs at a given rpm. The motor had compassion ratios between 9.4:1-10.3:1. There were JDM versions of the 4A-GE with several fitted updates and designs. 

4A-FE 


A 4A-FE

The Toyota 4A-FE is a more economy-focused version of the 4A engine family. From the factory, the 4A-FE produces up to 105 horsepower at 95lbs of tq. While not designed for performance, it can still be turbocharged for moderate power gains. With careful tuning, the 4A-FE can reach 165–180 horsepower, making it a budget turbo option for Corolla builds.

Some parts from the A Series are interchangeable with each other. The 4A-FE head is interchangeable with the 4A-GZE bottom end block. You can make over 300PS with this setup.

Because of the exchangeable parts for the 4A-GZE, aftermarket is large for the 4A-FE. Many  parts, as well as custom pistons/rods can be found via internet.

1NZ-FE  

A 1NZ-FE 

The Toyota 1NZ-FE is a 1.5L lightweight aluminum inline-4 engine used in many compact Toyota models. From the factory, the 1NZ-FE produces up to 109 horsepower at 106lbs of tq.  Its low weight makes it attractive for lightweight performance builds.

With proper tuning, the 1NZ-FE can safely handle around 150 horsepower on stock internals and much more when built. Supercharger and turbo kits are available, making it a versatile option.

This engine is best suited for small displacement, high-efficiency turbo Corolla builds.

Like the 1ZZ-FE/2ZR-FE, the 1NZ-FE was never designed for performance. But this motor has a lot of potential.  With NA or Force induction, the motor can be tuned to produce up to 150PS. 170PS with lots of attention and care. Many car enthusiasts have use this motor in many of their performance applications.

3SGTE  

A 4th Gen 3S-GTE

The Toyota 3S-GTE is a legendary 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine from the Celica GT-Four and MR2 Turbo. It is one of Toyota’s strongest performance engines.

From the factory, it produces between 225–260 horsepower at 239lbs of tq. Built versions can exceed 500 horsepower. The 3S-GTE is known for its durability, massive aftermarket support, and racing heritage.

This engine is ideal for extreme performance Corolla swaps focused on high horsepower potential.


ATS Racing ATS Racing 2.3L Stroker Assembled Short Block

Aftermarket for the 3S-GTE is pretty large via internet. The 3S-GTE engine is popular with the Toyota MR2 and Celica. There are custom turbo kits, stroker kits, and other parts for the 3S-GTE.  Modified force inducted 3S-GTE , are known to make serious power. A built 3S-GTE can handle well over 1000+hp. A lighty modified and tuned 3S-GTE can still produce up to 300+PS. Any power from a 3S-GTE is ridiculous for cars like the Toyota Corolla.

5SFE

A 5S-FE With Cali Emissions

The Toyota 5S-FE is a 2.2L inline-4 engine commonly found in Camry and Celica models. It offers strong low-end torque and excellent reliability. From the factory, the 5S-FE produces up to 138 horsepower at 150lbs of tq.

With turbocharging, the 5S-FE can easily produce 250 horsepower, and many builders use 3S-GTE components to increase strength and performance.

This engine is a great choice for torque-focused Corolla turbo builds.

A JDM CT26 Turbocharger For The 3S-GTE 

The engine will handle much more power with a customed turbo or a Rotrex supercharger kit. Thus calling this new engine 5S-GTE.

Engines such as the 3S-GTE are not average swaps. Everything is different including electronics/ECU. All the proper equipment from the donated car including a suitable or modified transmission is needed for a successful swap. These swaps requires a lot of customization including customed motor mounts, suspension, custumed high proformance axles, shifter, fuel system, cooling system, A/C/power steering, intake/exhaust, suspension/brakes, and tires. A chassis conversion can be added. Aftermarket for these engines is quite large. Turbo or supercharged applications may require upgraded injectors, upgraded ECU, a blot on or customed built manfold, fuel pump, and boost controller.
